Introduction to Nondestructive Testing
Release Time:28/08/2015

What are the NDT normal methods?

According to NASA research and analysis, Many NDT methods can be divided into six major categories of about 70 kinds. But the most common-used practical applications reside in the types as follows.

Conventional non-destructive testing methods are:

Ultrasonic Testing (abbreviation UT);

Radiographic Testing (abbreviated RT);

Magnetic Particle Testing (abbreviation MT);

Penetrant Testing (abbreviation PT);

Eddy Current Testing (abbreviation ET);

Non-conventional non-destructive testing techniques are:

Acoustic Emission (AE);

Leak Testing (abbreviation LT);

Optical Holography;

Infrared Thermography;

Microwave Testing

Which are the applications of nondestructive testing?

Applied Area:

    Non-destructive testing of raw materials; non-destructive testing during product manufacturing; non-destructive testing of products during usage (in service).

Object tested:

    - NDT of various materials (metals, non-metals, composites, etc.)

    - NDT of various workpieces (welded parts, forgings, castings, pipelines, etc.)

    - NDT of various construction (steel structure engineering, road construction, water conservancy and hydropower, bridge construction, airport facilities, nuclear power plants, etc.)

    - NDT of Safety and Security Engineering Project (airport security, container security, anti-terrorism riot, etc.).
