Chairman Shen Gongtian, Vice Chairman of Zhai Peijun, Vice Chairman of Zhou Zhenggan, Vice Director-General Ji Jingyuan and other personnel attended the 15th Asia-Pacific Non-destructive Testing Conference held in Singapore on November 13-17, 2017 on behalf of the China Society of Mechanical Engineering Non-destructive Testing Branch (externally known as the China Non-destructive Testing Society). The delegates attended the conference, which was attended by about 1000 people, about 50 chinese delegates, about 180 exhibitors, about 45 Chinese exhibitors, and representatives from 23 different countries and regions. The conference included 227 abstracts of papers, more than 175 oral reports and 52 posted papers. Among them, there are 60 papers from China, about 52 oral communication reports, and 8 published papers. A total of 75 exhibitors, of which the largest number of exhibitors is represented by Chinese exhibitors, 22 accounted for 30% of the total size of exhibitors, followed by 9 Singapore exhibitors, 6 American/UK exhibitors, 5 German exhibitors and other national exhibitors. On behalf of the China Society for Non-destructive Testing, Chairman Shen Gongtian and Deputy Director-General Ji Jingyuan took the stage during the dinner to congratulate the Singapore Society for Non-destructive Testing on the successful hosting of the event and to present gifts.
The Asia-Pacific Conference organized by the Singapore Society was well received by the delegates. The first meeting of the APFNDT Joint Meeting was held at 9:00 a.m. on November 14, attended by representatives of Singapore, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Japan, Australia, Ukraine and other societies. First, Mr. SK Babu, representative of the Singapore Society for Non-destructive Testing, will report on the 15th Asia-Pacific Conference on Non-destructive Testing. Second, the China Society for Non-destructive Testing and the Korean Society for Non-Destructive Testing, the American Society for Non-destructive Testing and the Malaysian Society for Non-destructive Testing respectively made reports to contest the right to host the 17th Asia-Pacific Non-destructive Testing Conference in 2025. The second meeting of the APFNDT Joint Meeting was held at 9:00 a.m. on November 15, 2017, and after discussion and voting, the American Society for Non-destructive Testing was awarded the right to host the APCNDT 2025 Conference in Hawaii.
During the meeting, Chairman Shen Gongtian and Deputy Director-General Ji Jingyuan discussed with representatives of the Societies in the Asia-Pacific region on issues related to non-destructive testing, and Chairman Shen Gongtian conducted comprehensive exchanges with representatives of the societies, which made great contributions to the work of Our Society in playing a more important role and having a greater say in the Asia-Pacific region. On the morning of November 16th, Chairman Shen Gongtian presided over a meeting of the electromagnetic testing sub-site, providing a good communication platform for non-destructive testing practitioners engaged in electromagnetic testing technology. Vice-Director-General Ji Jingyuan participated in the ICNDT-WG1 Working Group meeting on November 15, which focused on the revision and improvement of ISO9712 and ISO17024 standards, which will play a very important role in promoting the training and certification of non-destructive test personnel in the future. For the future students in the process of learning to get more relevant information has laid a good foundation. The members of the WG1 Working Group, mainly the Directors-General or Deputy Director-General of the National Institutes, took this opportunity to promote the upcoming 11th Annual Meeting of the Society of Non-destructive Testing (also the 40th Anniversary Conference of the Society since its establishment in 1978), during the WG1 Conference, The conference will be held in Shanghai in October 2018 and will be hosted by the Shanghai Institute of Materials.
Representatives of all countries have expressed their support for my annual meeting and are willing to come to the meeting to celebrate the event with us. Also held during the meeting were the meeting of the TC135 Bid Committee from 16 to 17 November. The revision of the non-destructive testing standardwaswasconoting was mainly discussed, and due to time, Deputy Director-General Ji Jingyuan participated in some of the TC135 meetings. The next (16th) Asia-Pacific Conference will be held in Melbourne, Australia, in 2021.
